NEWANGLE

The Greatest Show on Earth ® Gallery

NewAngle, is a digital design and production company that creates audiovisual software for museums, visitor attractions, and cultural heritage organisations worldwide.

They were contracted by The Ringling Circus Museum in Florida to create a new gallery dedicated to exploring the last 50 years of the Barnum and Bailey Circus under the ownership of Feld Entertainment.
The museum audiences are family tourists, local families, and independent adults, so short, high-impact, immersive, multi-sensory experiences that included an element of nostalgia and circus history were important for the software elements.
Working with Cultural Innovations, NewAngle developed the digital concepts from inception to a fully realised visual and content narrative spilt across 4 thematic zones, including archive films, multi-speaker soundscapes and an immersive experience with 3D sound.
Zone 1 is devoted to the history of the Feld family era. The story is told through an overarching narrative voiced by the last Ringmaster, Johnathan Lee Iverson, interspersed with archive interview clips from members of the Feld family, from 1967 to the present day, along with a subtle music score.
In Zone 2, overhead screens show a video loop of backstage and behind the scenes footage of show preparation. The footage is focused on performers and crew preparations in the Felds 600,000 sq. ft facility in Florida.
Four gesture-based interactives allow visitors to explore a huge selection of images of acts from the entire 50-year Feld era. The home screen presents the Ringling red entrance curtain for visitors to part and reveal a carousel of 4 themes in a 3D circus ring setting.
When visitors select a theme, they get a fun and playful animated 3D interaction of a famous act from that category before they access the content menu.
