Studio MB undertook two more gallery refurbishments within the award-winning destination. The‘ Time Lords’ gallery is a multi-media, multi-sensory experience across three distinct spaces that takes visitors from James Hutton’ s 19th century lecture room, exploring how the Earth works, to witnessing the Big Bang, and exploring how the Earth began.
Exhibition highlights include a life-size James Hutton hologram with synchronised animated black boards presenting the Earth’ s heat engine, plus an internally projected, 360˚projection globe presenting the

Visitors enjoy a dram in the 360 ° tasting room modern paradigm of plate tectonics. The last gallery is a large lift lined with monitors, and a‘ Deep Time Machine’ taking the visitor down to the galleries below, but more importantly, back 13.8 billion years!
The‘ Discovering the Deep’ gallery reveals Scotland’ s deep-water natural heritage and links it to the remarkable story of Edinburgh’ s own Charles Wyville Thomson, whose pioneering exploration fathered the science of oceanography. A major hurdle to understanding the oceans is their lack of accessibility, and the exhibition design offers visitors engaging opportunities to overcome this. Highlights include a massive( 18 x 6m), immersive interactive AV that transports visitors from the surface to dark depths, where they can control their own ROV to seek out the colourful array of geological features and wonderful species. The experience enables visitors to explore Scotland’ s deep-water heritage within the wider context of modern oceanography.
Our work for Dynamic Earth is centred on providing wonderful and memorable experiences for young people, experiences that bring families together, create joy and enrich lives.
Douglas Walker, Commercial Director at Dynamic Earth said,“ The Studio MB team were energetic, creative and proactive in producing really imaginative designs that matched our brief extremely well. They worked very effectively throughout the project to produce a gallery that we are extremely happy with. I would note that the gallery has stood the test of time and still looks good after several years of use.”
If you have a project, whatever shape or size, please do not hesitate to give Studio MB a call. They would be delighted to chat things over with you.
