Designing destinations with lasting impact
Over 95 million guests every single year experience the work of international themed attraction designers, Katapult, based in Derby. Headed up by Co-Founders Dawn Foote and Phil Higgins, the company is continuing to develop the destinations of the future- who have previously completed projects for the biggest names in the industry, including The LEGO ® Group, Ferrari, Merlin Entertainments and Warner Bros.
The company has long worked within the theme park industry, designing everything from masterplans for new parks, through to rides, queue lines, retail and themed F & B. It is this experience of creating amazing and engaging experiences that has seen the company employed to work on projects across various sub-sectors, injecting fun into heritage, placemaking and hospitality. More recently, the company celebrated the opening of The Tunnels, Gibraltar’ s World War II Experience in 2025, following a 12-month project to reimagine the locally-iconic visitor attraction. The experience now includes a spy academy, brand new interpretation, hands-on exhibits and a suspended Spitfire inside the rock of Gibraltar. A project brought to reality utilising Katapult’ s insights, story, design and creative production capabilities. Katapult has also started work to create an ambitious destination project in the Swedish city of Malmö. Founded in the late 18th Century, Malmö’ s Folkets Park covers more than 60,000 square metres and attracts over 2.5 million visitors every year. The city’ s ambition is to enhance the park’ s attractiveness and sustainability as a regional destination in Northern Europe.
