RUSSIAN REGIONS EVENT POTENTIAL RANKING
Annually since 2014 , R & C Market Research Company has been summing up the year results and forming the Russian Regions Event Potential Ranking . The Ranking allows assessing the state of the main factors that affect the level of the event industry in the regions . This assessment , indicating the problem points , helps the organizers to choose the venue of the event and local administrations to assess the opportunities of the event industry in economic development of the region . The research is based on the study of six groups of indicators that have the most significant impact on the development of regional event industry markets :
• state of the event industry specialized infrastructure and capabilities ;
• promotion of the region as a destination for events ;
• policy of regional administrations in the event industry and activity of specialized coordinating bodies ;
• the region ’ s experience in attracting and holding significant major events ;
• the region ’ s tourist attractiveness and transport accessibility ;
• state of event tourism in the region .
The initial ranking pool consists of the Russian regions and the cities being their administrative centers . In the total sampling mix , Sochi with its tourist and recreational cluster , as a destination with high event activity , is taken into account separately from the Krasnodar Region , whereas Saint Petersburg , on the contrary , is considered together with the Leningrad Region . Traditionally , Moscow and the Moscow Region have a role in the research , but are not included in the ranking due to the development level of the event industry that is ahead of that of the rest of the regions .
