ABOUT EVENTS INDUSTRY IN RUSSIA PROFESSIONALLY
GENERAL STATUS OF THE RUSSIAN EVENT MARKET IN 2019 – 2020
According to the results of the annual study of the Russian event industry conducted by R & C Market Research Company , the total volume of the Russian market by revenue in 2020 amounted to EUR 1.6 billion . This is 38 % less than the same indicator in 2019 . The main reason for this reduction is the restrictions associated with the coronavirus pandemic .
The Moscow Region accounts for the main volume of revenue in the industry ( EUR 1,316 million ). Its share compared to 2019 increased by 2.4 % to 83.7 % due to a more serious drop in the market in the top 10 regions of the Event Ranking . The share of the top 10 regions decreased from 16 % to 13.7 %, while the share of other regions remained almost the same , 2.7 % ( 2.6 % in 2019 ). In the Top 10 regions of the Regions Event Potential Ranking , the market has decreased by almost half , by 47 %. In Moscow and the Moscow Region , the market reduction is less than the average in Russia , 36 %.

In 2020 , 61 % of people employed in the event industry worked in Moscow and the Moscow Region , 30 % worked in the top 10 regions of the Event Ranking , and 9 % were employed in other regions of the country .
Compared to 2019 , the number of jobs in Moscow and the Moscow Region decreased by 12 %, slightly more than the average in Russia . Despite a significant decrease in the revenue of companies in the
top 10 regions of the Ranking , it is the segment with the lowest decrease in employment recorded ( -5 %). These relatively low indicators of job cuts in the TOP 10 regions of the Ranking are due to the presence of regions that managed to show positive dynamics in the average staff number in 2020 : Krasnodar Region , Nizhniy Novgorod Region , and Primorye Region .
