Middle East – ADNEC Group has announced the appointment of Darren Johnson as the new CEO of Capital Events , a regional event organiser subsidiary of the group .
This appointment comes as ADNEC looks to attract major new events to the UAE , hosted in Abu Dhabi .
Johnson said he was “ thrilled ” to take on the new challenge . “ I look forward to developing the company ’ s portfolio of high-profile events and exhibitions , while providing our exhibitors and stakeholders with best in class events capabilities .”
Europe – Hydrogen Technology Expo
Europe , the world ’ s largest hydrogen trade fair , has announced a new partnership with Hamburg Messe und Congress ( HMC ) and a move to Hamburg from 2024 onwards . The annual event currently takes place in Bremen , attracting over 500 international exhibitors and thousands of attendees .
“ Hydrogen Technology Expo is thrilled to partner with HMC for our 2024 event , said UK-based organiser Trans-Global Events ’ CEO Mike Robinson . “ Hamburg is internationally recognised as a leader within the renewable energy sector , and host to many important hydrogen projects .”
Australasia – The Brisbane Truck Show roared back at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre ( BCEC ) at the end of May , with a record attendance of 40,000 people . The show is the biggest automotive exhibition in the Southern Hemisphere and occupied 35,000sqm of exhibition space , The Truck Show has made BCEC its home since 2011 . It is an event now generating AUD $ 40m ( US $ 26.6m ) in economic benefit for Brisbane .
Organised by Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia ( HVIA ), the week-long festival of all things trucking extended into the South Bank Parklands and other locations .
