Explori presented new research data at event technology and services platform Hire Space ’ s event – ‘ The Events Outlook ’ in London ’ s Bishopsgate in May . A key stat was that 3 / 4 of exhibitors said they were feeling pressure to cut exhibit-related costs , with 85 % choosing where to exhibit based on cost . They included : ‘ Hybrid events aren ’ t all we were expecting them to be ’ and ‘ Event catering expenses surging from pre-pandemic levels by 40-60 %’.
Americas – International organiser and digital services group Informa announced , 18 May , the acquisition of specialist B2B events , data and media group , Chicago-based Winsight , for $ 380m .
Informa CEO Stephen A . Carter said : “ Following on from the acquisition of Tarsus , we are delighted to further expand our B2B portfolio . This now adds Foodservice to our roster of category leading B2B businesses .”
The combination of Winsight with Informa ’ s existing B2B Foodservice portfolio brings together leading brands such as FSTEC , Catersource , CREATE and the National Restaurant Association Show .
Americas – Tourism and business leaders gathered at the Las Vegas Convention Center ( LVCC ) in May to kick off a $ 600m renovation of the facility ’ s legacy campus .
The renovation will extend the design , architecture , and customer experience of the 1.4m square foot West Hall , which debuted in 2021 . Work will continue through 2025 , with construction designed to minimise disruption to scheduled trade shows .
A ceremonial groundbreaking took place at the east side of the South Hall , which will be transformed into a sprawling new plaza and entrance .
World – UK-based event support agency TEMBO is partnering with UFI to provide marketing support for Global Exhibitions Day ( GED ) 2023 .
The eighth annual GED takes place on 7 June , 2023 , and promotes the vital role of F2F business events in driving the global economy . The theme for this year ’ s event is : ‘ We run the meeting places and marketplaces for everyone ’.
TEMBO will work to drive participation and engagement with GED and , with UFI , will moderate the event on the day as they aim to get the hashtag # GED2023 trending globally .
