EW explores some regional news highlights in the global exhibitions industry
Europe – UK exhibition venue NEC
Birmingham , part of the NEC Group , has joined the Association of Independent Festivals ( AIF ) and the Association of Festival Organisers ( AFO ), as part of its events diversification strategy .
Since the pandemic , the team at the NEC Campus , which has 387 acres of hardstanding ground and 59 acres of woodland , said it has had a greater focus on its festival offering within its outdoor and indoor space . The NEC , Birmingham new business director Richard Mann said : “ We work closely with many trade bodies across the live music and events industry , to listen to the wants and needs of more event genres .”
Americas – The world ’ s largest tech trade show , the Consumer Electronics Show ( CES ), returned to Las Vegas from 5 – 8 January – hosted at a variety of venues , including The Venetian Convention and Expo Center .
CES 2023 showcased brands and technology from a wide variety of tech sectors , such as computing , automobiles , mobile , transport , and home appliances . Across 3 – 4 January large companies such as Samsung , BMW , Sony , and Nvidia released announcements to the media about their upcoming technology . More about CES 2023 can be found on page 24 .
Australasia – The Asia Pacific
Incentives and Meetings Event ( AIME ) has announced details of its Knowledge Programme for 2023 which will include an address from Australian tennis star , Jelena Dokic .
The Knowledge Programme will launch the AIME trade show in Melbourne on 13 February 2023 and will see a mix of industry business leaders and professionals as well as keynote speakers . It will also involve breakout sessions which are designed for event professionals working across corporate , association , not-for-profit and supplier sectors .
Europe – The H2Expo and
Conference , the international forum for the production , distribution and use of hydrogen , will be held on a new date , 28-29 June , 2023 , at Hamburg Exhibition Centre . The event will now take place annually and , in even-numbered years , it will always be held in parallel with WindEnergy Hamburg .
In addition , Andreas Arnheim , project manager for WindEnergy Hamburg , will assume control of the H2Expo and Conference with his team , with immediate effect . According to HMC , the new dates are were decided upon due to the current market situation .
