range of organisers , different subject matters , different styles of show , but also different styles of work . We ’ re always looking for what ’ s the best way of working .
“ You might not think the Drag World convention would have much bearing on what we did at Big Data , but actually we ’ ve learned something from all these different people . We try to suck up all the best practice from all of these different things and translate that across all of our shows .”
For Sigler the best part of the job is problem solving . “ We like challenges ,” she says and they have seen a fair few – including all the major disasters including fire and flood ( not to mention the C-word ). She even goes as far as to suggest and event without a hitch would be boring .
Despite the variety of events they have worked in , one thing is always the same “ it ’ s our enthusiasm .”
Having taken on every job going in the early years they are now able to pick and choose the events that really excite them .
“ We love putting on the shows we love ,” Sigler says , but she does confess to having a few favourites .
“ For me it ’ s Clerkenwell Design Week because everything about that show is unique . A challenge you ’ ve never faced before will appear on that show . Gill would probably says Big Data .”
From starting the event as a small conference – helping it grow to the point where the entry queues backed up over Olympia ’ s bridge .
“ There ’ s a real pride that

we were able to build that show into something we were all blown away by .
“ We are we are a small part in helping other people achieve what they ’ re trying

to achieve . It ’ s a really nice feeling that we can support our clients in doing that .”
And their clients keep coming back , because despite being an outsource they work as closely with their clients as if they were part of the team .
Reflecting on the lessons they learned in their 10 years in business , Sigler says : “ We ’ ve learned along the way that if a client doesn ’ t respect to us or value what we do , then we can ’ t we can ’ t be a part of the team . If we don ’ t enjoy what we ’ re doing , we ’ re not going to do a good job .”
As they look to the future , Sigler – who doesn ’ t really like five years plans- admits they do have one objective , as they celebrate 10 years of frantic pace .
“ At the moment we ’ re quite happy being in a position whereby we can we can take on shows that we want to do rather than having to .
“ For us that ’ s a really nice place to be .” EN
