Graduate programme
Clarion launched its graduate programme to recruit future leaders and attract new talent into the industry .
Graduates rotate in key functions across the business to gain exposure to operations , tech platforms , data and insights , digital products and live events .
“ We were extremely mindful of ensuring the programme , the attraction , the recruitment process and the assessment days answered the questions on our Gen Z target audience ’ s minds ,” Clarion says .
“ We made sure that we recruited inclusively with equitable measures such as choosing to phone screen candidates to avoid visual bias , using a score card assessment method , and ensured we had a group of diverse speakers and assessors to ensure all candidates felt comfortable and could connect with others in the business .
“ The graduates were extremely complimentary of the thoroughness and fairness of the recruitment process and the content of the assessment days . They were impressed with the managers they met and felt that we really showcased our culture and what it would be like to work at Clarion . It appears that in-person assessment days are very rare .”
Event Academy Clarion Events has hosted students from Event Academy since 2013 . The three-month work placement is an opportunity for students to apply the skills and knowledge they have learnt in the classroom and gain real life work experience managing events .
Clarion say they listen to each student to understand what experience they want from their placement before matching them to an appropriate part of the business .

It is important to us that we support new talent schemes but also this scheme in particular helps us to recruit great talent into permanent roles ,” they said .
Micro-placements In 2022 Clarion started to partner with City University London to provide micro-placements for their students . The programme is a curriculumbased , social-mobility giving students , mostly from underrepresented backgrounds an opportunity to gain professional experience through shortterm career-exploration internships . This year Clarion placed a student in the retail team who helped to execute innovative marketing campaigns , supported sales and customers and assisted with ops preparations for events .
Mentoring Clarion introduced a pilot mentoring programme to support new starters in March 2022 .
They said benefits include better employee engagement and cross departmental networking – particularly in hybrid working environments . The scheme helps provide growth and career development for staff , a more skilled workforce and increased productivity .
It also helps Clarion improve diversity and inclusion – bringing individuals of any age , gender , race or physical health together and drive interactions and learning between them . EN
