Destination N orway Trade Fair (NTF), 40,000sqm of exhibition space across five halls, hosts over 50 large events each year. Their largest event, Nor-shipping, sees 47,600 delegates from across Europe decend on the capital’s venue and is organised by the NTF. The event has in excess of 800 exhibitors with 19 international pavilions; more than enough space for any medium to large-scale exhibition. What it also demonstrates, is that the venue can easily house global events for just about any market. Jan Gjaere, director of International Conferences at NTF, said: “We want to attract the right kind of organisers to our venue. Oslo is an incredible and exciting city, with beautiful natural surroundings. Professionals working in medical, pharmatceutical, energy and SmartCity markets are attracted to our city, mainly because it is ideally positioned, with the right attitude, expertise and seen as a natural fit for these sectors.” This year, NTF also hosted a neurology event EAN (European Academy of Neurology), the world’s third largest congress for neurologists. It included 60 seminars, a plenary session for 2,200 delegates and saw over 7,500 professional visitors. Gjaere adds: “Our venue is easily accessible, with 112 daily international flights, and we’re just 10 minutes from the airport with trains running every 10 minutes. We’ve created a resort feel at NTF with a wide variety of venues onsite and hotels with 60 additional meeting spaces” VisitOSLO project manager Jorun Aasen Kristiansen, works with international organisers, she said: “Oslo is not the only a city which can offer top of the range venues, seamless transport and effective logistic solutions. But Olso’s greatest strength is its proximity to nature and the array of island and parks nearby. Despite the city never appearing crowded, unlike London, it is a top destination for events and tourism.
