News People Moves ExCeL London have appointed Caroline Grange as general counsel. Grange previously worked as a senior associate for DLA Piper, before becoming general counsel for LabTech. Frankie Lythcott has joined Freeman EMEA’s Agency Services as executive producer. Lythcott has worked on a wide range of global events from product launches to marriage proposals. Matt Abbot has been made PR and communications manager at ExCeL London. Abbot joins the company from DP World London Gateway. GES have announced their appointment of Jay Altizer as president. After joining the company in 2018, Altizer demonstrated his extensive management experience, after successfully leading teams at PepsiCo, Bain & Company and Dean Foods. The AEV Association have added to their secretariat by appointing Emily Deimbacher as their new marketing and sales executive. Deimbacher’s work will primarily be focused on the AEV’s websites, social media and campaigns. 06 — November The month at a glance The stories, topics and trends making headlines in recent weeks Hyve Group publish trading updates The Hyve Group’s revenues for the 2019 financial year are predicted to be around £219m, as compared to £176m in 2018. In addition, the majority of the Group’s markets have delivered like-for-like revenue growth for the second year running. Net debt in 30 September 2019 was about £112m as compared to £83m in 30 September 2018. Hyve Group hope they will now be more robust going into the 2020 financial year despite disruption in many of their markets. As of 27 September 2019, the Group had booked roughly £118m of revenue for the 2020 financial year, 4% ahead of the same time last year. HYVE Group say much of this is owed to implementing the Transformation and Growth programmed initiatives throughout their key events. Nominations open for EN Supplier Awards Formerly the EN Elite Awards, nominations now are open to any company who provides services to exhibitions across the UK. The awards recognise the achievements and excellence of those who are essential in the events industry – the suppliers and contractors. The awards will be held by the team behind Exhibition News Magazine and will celebrate those who work tirelessly to make sure events are a success, especially in this time of increasing change where there is more pressure than ever on shows to deliver a creative experience for attendees. The award categories include: Best AV Company; Best Customer Service Team; Best Design and Build Company – under £5m turnover; Best Design and Build Company – over £5m turnover; Best Eco Supplier; Best Employer; Best Furniture Provider; Best Logistics Company; Best Registration Supplier; Best Signage & Graphics Supplier; Best Staffing Company; Best Tech Company; Innovation of the Year; Unsung Hero; and Best Operations Contractor. Nominations for the awards will close 25th October 2019. The qualification period for entries is 1 November 2018 – 31 October 2019. The awards will be held on 12 December 2019, at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel, London Kensington.
