Green meetings
The International Convention Centre ( ICC ) Belfast , together with its sister entertainment venue Waterfront Hall , has become the first events venue on the island of Ireland to receive the Green Meetings Silver Award .
The accreditation , launched by Green Tourism in 2021 , was designed specifically for meetings and events venues . It measures venues ’ sustainability standards including energy , water and waste , as well as catering , communications and community involvement .
ICC Belfast ’ s award comes after the venue committed to a sustainable tourism plan , by sending zero waste to landfill , adopting a digital-first approach and utilising LED lighting and technology .
Visit Belfast chief executive Gerry Lennon said : “ Placing sustainability at the heart of our operations makes business sense and helps the city remain relevant and attractive .”
Cyber week
Events and media group Roar B2B has launched a hybrid free-to-attend event that will aim to redefine the cyber security event space .
The week-long event will run from 31 October – 4 November , with delegates joining the first three days online . The last two days will be a live event at the Business Design Centre .
UK Cyber Week will feature content streams for business leaders who have little or no cyber experience , as well as sessions for the cyber security specialist community .
Roar B2B said the event will fly in experienced researchers and hackers from across the world .
Roar B2B group managing director , Bradley Mauleffinch said : “ There ’ s a knowledge gap between the incredible experience of the cyber security specialists and the frontline business leaders and IT departments .”
RX acuires Big Data LDN
RX has announced the acquisition of 3rd Street Group Ltd , the owners and organisers of Big Data LDN .
Big Data LDN is one of the UK ’ s largest data and analytics conferences and exhibitions , hosting leading data , analytics experts and suppliers .
Big Data LDN will join the RX ( formerly Reed Exhibitions ) portfolio in the UK , with founder Bill Hammond remaining as its event director .
Announcing the acquisition , RX CEO , Hugh Jones , said : “ Despite the impact that the pandemic has had on the events industry , we continue our longstanding tradition of acquiring key events in growth sectors and markets .
