New Zealand is back for events

15 – 16 June 2022 Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre
It was hard to tell who was happier at MEETINGS 2022 at the new Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre – the attendees or the exhibitors .
For more than 20 years , MEETINGS ( owned and run by Business Events Industry Aotearoa ), has provided EAs and other event organisers with ideas and inspiration for holding meetings , incentives and events in New Zealand …. Not to mention being a great platform to fast-track valuable contacts within the New Zealand business event market . And , after a challenging two years for the global meetings and events sector , it was wonderful to see such a strong turnout – 211 exhibitors and more than 400 buyers , including 110 from Australia .
The first international exhibition to be held at New Zealand ’ s nextgeneration convention centre , the two-day event was opened by New Zealand ’ s Minister for Tourism and
Economic Development , Stuart Nash . His opening remarks were welcomed by Business Events Industry Aotearoa chief executive , Lisa Hopkins . She said Mr Nash ’ s speech acknowledged the importance the government places on the business events sector and the vital role it has to play in New Zealand ’ s future success .
The opening evening was held at the Christchurch Town Hall and began with a moving Mihi Whakatau ( speech ) and Kapa Haka ( performance ) from Ngāi Tūāhuriri to welcome everyone . And , following two full days at the exhibition , attendees enjoyed a gala dinner to remember . Set in Te Pae ’ s spectacular River rooms , everything was sourced from local producers within 85 kilometres of the city .
