IOB researcher and alumna Klara Claessens( 2009, Belgium) publically defended her IOB doctoral research‘ Land, Access and Power. Case studies from Kalehe, DRC’ on the 6th of March 2017.
On the 21st of April 2017, IOB alumna Alellie Sobreviñas( 2007, Philippines) successfully presented her doctoral thesis entitled‘ The Community- Based Monitoring System( CBMS): an Investigation of Its Usefulness in Understanding the Relationship Between International Migration and Poverty in the Philippines’ at the University of Antwerp.
On the 21st of March 2017, IOB alumnus Hoang Nam Vu( 2007, Vietnam) also successfully defended his PhD at the School of Management, Massey University, New Zealand. His PhD is about small businesses, the involvement of business owners’ families, and employees working in small businesses. Nam Vu thanked prof. Calfat in an email stating‘ This is the result of a long journey and what I learnt from your teaching during my study at IOB makes a significant contribution to my achievement. I am grateful to you for what you taught me.’

IOB alumni Richard Temu( 2012, Tanzania) and John Mfungo( 2010, Tanzania) have been outstanding IOB, UAntwerp, VLIRUOS and Belgian ambassadors! They represented IOB and UAntwerp at the Tanzanian Scholarship Fair at Dar Es Salaam on the 6th of May. The Belgian Embassy in Tanzania, the University of Antwerp and IOB really appreciate their ambassadorship!
