We all gathered at the Wallan BP service station on the Hume, and departed for Mt disappointment at 630pm.
The night was very dark due to a thick cloud cover overhead, we all had to keep our eyes open as there was plenty of
wildlife about, mostly wallabies and wombats.
We aired down once we hit the dirt, I had only planned to keep to the northern areas and had no planned tracks. We had
a quick look at the map to decide on a direction. The first track was a bit of fun until we got to the valley. It was covered
in thick sticky clay from the previous night’s rain. As it was dark we decided to test our night time reversing skills and
head down another track (Drag Hill rd). We drove around Sunday Creek Reservoir where Lyndon took the lead for
some wildlife spotting for the kids (they sounded pretty happy over the radio)
Heading north on Main Mountain Rd, we turned left onto Nylanders Spur Track, a few hundred meters on the right we
found an unnamed track which was hard to spot at night. This track was one of the highlights of the night, it had several
steep low range hill descents and just as many climbs. I almost turned around for another go in reverse!
We pulled up for a 10pm snack, and plenty of sugary snacks were on the table. Little Lani and Soren were bouncing off
the trees from their sugar rush. Before we departed we took the opportunity to line up the cars for a photo opportunity
(im sure you can see the
clubs logo somewhere)
