MEMBER TRIP REPORT

Once we were out of Murrindindi Gap , we high-ranged it to Ures Rd and a short stint along the highway , then left onto Gypsy Lane . Strangely , this side of the Maroondah Hwy was very dry . We enjoyed the views from the highest point of Ackerman Track , then meandered along the west side of Marysville .
Nearing 4 o ’ clock , we decided to drive up Strickland Spur from Granton Rd . It should be a Sunday drive since we found out that it was freshly graded recently .
Strickland Spur track was our last challenge of the day and it was difficult , muddy and steep . Only 2 of the 6 cars made it up without winching . Low tyre pressures , momentum and a good amount of right foot were the order of the day . Russell reported on the radio that he was literally steaming under the bonnet of the Red Paj . He stopped a couple of times to let it cool down . Strickland Spur is a steep climb and a long climb , so it is going to challenge the cooling system of any 4wd .
We ended up back at the Black Spur Inn around 5pm where we aired up and had some beverage before departing .
