Americas – Starting 1 October, the
US State Department will impose a $ 250 Visa Integrity Fee on nonimmigrant visas, potentially bringing total entry costs to $ 442 per person. The fee affects business travellers but exempts citizens from Visa Waiver Program destinations, including the UK, Australia, Japan and many countries in Europe. The fee is considered a security deposit. Visitors that leave the US on time and don’ t violate their visa conditions may be refunded. Affected countries include China, Nigeria and India. Industry leaders warn this could drive business travellers to alternative destinations entirely.
