D a reputation as a trusted partner in the global event industry, offering unparalleled expertise through its own international events and long-standing collaborations with guest trade fairs at Messegelände Hannover. This deep understanding of event participants’ needs drives continuous improvements in services, infrastructure, and sustainability.

Rather than simply renting venues or providing services, Deutsche Messe works closely with organisers to develop tailored solutions that align with their unique event requirements.
Messegelände Hannover: a venue without limits As the largest exhibition site in the world in terms of total area, Messegelände Hannover accommodates events of all formats – from intimate gatherings to massive international productions. Its modular infrastructure enables flexible configurations, ensuring organisers can create immersive experiences that leave lasting impressions. The venue’ s adaptability is unmatched:
• Confex Formats – flexible spaces that seamlessly combine conference and exhibition areas, with the added benefit of expandable outdoor zones ideal for networking, catering, or interactive experiences.
• Exhibitions requiring room for growth, high floor load capacities and expansive manoeuvring areas.
• Open-air concerts with 80,000 attendees, with emergency evacuation options into nearby halls.
• Automotive events with onsite testing and autonomous driving experiences.
With 15km of roadways, outdoor spaces that transform into dynamic event settings, and halls designed for maximum versatility, Messegelände Hannover offers limitless possibilities for organisers seeking to create memorable, high-impact experiences.
Sustainability: a core commitment Sustainability is a core pillar of Deutsche Messe’ s corporate strategy. A key priority is refining and expanding their event portfolio with sustainability-focused content, exhibition segments, and special formats. One major initiative is integrating circular transformation themes into their trade fairs, industry by industry. A standout example is the new format LIGNA. Circular at LIGNA 2025, dedicated to circular transformation in woodworking and wood processing. Under the motto‘ Thinking in Circles’, the event highlights sustainable practices and circularity within the sector.
Deutsche Messe by July 2025 will complete the implementation and certification of an Energy Management System( EnMS) in line with ISO 50001. This system provides clear insights into energy consumption and continuously identifies everyday opportunities for reduction – without requiring major investments. Simple measures, such as optimising hall temperatures and adjusting door usage based on indoor and outdoor conditions, contribute to these efforts. Their broader goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.
Deutsche Messe’ s sustainability measures help reduce the CO2 footprint of all event participants at Messegelände Hannover. However, their success often depends on market and customer adoption. Key initiatives include:
• Reusable and recyclable exhibition stands and promotional materials.
• Vegetarian-focused catering to lower environmental impact.
• Encouraging public transportation sto reduce emissions.
The MICE industry must continue raising awareness of these sustainable options and inspiring organisers and attendees to embrace them. EW
