The media’s perception on what beauty is has constantly changed throughout the course of many years. Now more than ever it has become a serious problem. The advancement of technology has allowed others to define beauty for us, using the internet, television, magazines, etc. Many young women in today’s world are deciding to take a stand against these unrealistic beauty standards and break free from those stereotypes. The Healthy Is The New Skinny LOVE campaign, The Dove Real Beauty Campaign and SPARK are only a few of the campaigns that have been started by women who refuse to be defined by the media and their display of artificial beauty.

In 2013, HNS started the Healthy is The New Skinny campaign after they posted a photo comparing two body types that are most frequently used in adveritsements. After reading the comments left on their photo, they decided it was time to break free from the stereotype that beauty is defined by your size. This campaign claims they are a
