Healthcare is one of the most important industries in Florida, thanks to rapid growth and residents’ need for care across various specialties.
It’ s that rapid growth that keeps large healthcare systems like AdventHealth looking toward the future and investing in communities. In the last few years alone, the organization has spent over $ 250 million on expansion investments— part of a broader commitment to Florida’ s economy and well-being.
In 2023 alone, AdventHealth contributed more than

$ 16 billion to the state’ s economy, supported over 113,000 jobs( direct and indirect), and kept 94 % of its spending within Florida— helping local businesses grow and communities thrive.
David Weis, regional president and CEO for AdventHealth East Florida, said every project must be intentionally planned.
“ It ' s a lot of future planning to ensure what you ' re building today will serve the best of your patients today but will enable you to care for the next generation of patients as well,” Weis said of project forecasting.
That includes AdventHealth Daytona Beach’ s multiphased, $ 220 million expansion project, which began in 2024. The project will add 104 inpatient beds, four new surgical suites and more than 240,000 square feet to the current facility. The expected completion is fall 2026. Weis said HuntonBrady Architects designed the hospital to allow for vertical expansion later. That“ later” is now happening.
It’ s thoughtful planning that allows AdventHealth to provide top-notch care, too.
Recently, AdventHealth Daytona Beach earned a comprehensive stroke center certification, the only of its kind in northeast Florida.
