"If I have seen further, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants" - Isaac Newton

Gravity

You may have had that question in elementary school. The answer is what we simply call gravity. Gravity is what pulls everything towards the ground, including you. Without it, there would be no life on earth. It can be thought of as an attractive force between objects that have masses. The amount of gravitational force exerted to an object is directly proportional to its mass. For the tremendous mass of earth, it exerts a massive amount of force on its surface grabbing everything to be attached to it. And since the earth is spherical, it exerts approximately the same amount of force in all directions perpendicular to its surface. The acceleration of gravity is the speed in which an object will accelerate by when it is thrown down from a certain height. For earth, it is approximately 9.8 m/s.
