BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
friend base to so many different types of women. Once
you go through something like breast cancer and you
meet someone else who has also been through the experience, you automatically have a special bond with that
person, having “been there done that.”
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE
TO WOMEN WHO ARE CONCERNED
ABOUT IT?
Don’t be! It is a waste of time to worry about something
that has not yet happened. If it runs in your family and
you are BRAC positive that is a different story. I am a believer in women being proactive in saving their own life
by removing the problem before it becomes a problem. If
everyone in your family has battled breast cancer and/or
died from this disease then a mastectomy, like what Angelina Jolie did, is the way to go. You have friends, family
and loved ones that need you around so be proactive for
goodness sakes!
It is okay to NOT try to be super woman. In this competitive world we live in we all sometimes find ourselves struggling to keep up with the Joneses. When you are battling
breast cancer, it is ok to allow yourself down time. It is
okay to admit that you are struggling with something that
could potentially be deadly. It is certainly okay to pamper
yourself during this time. Being a drill sergeant about the
whole ordeal and being unkind or hard on yourself is NOT
the way to go! Breathe through all of it and keep the faith
that you will overcome this bad patch in your life.
DO YOU HAVE ANY WORDS OF HOPE
TO GIVE WOMEN WHO ARE
CURRENTLY FIGHTING THE DISEASE?
“
IT IS OKAY
TO NOT TRY
TO BE SUPER
WOMAN.
