Although I felt them there in spir- it with me. I had the feeling also that they would have loved Pauline as much as I did, had they met her. An old childhood friend from Birming- ham named Simon came to stay with us and be at our wedding. I hadn’t kept in touch with many old friends from where I grew up, but I was happy to have Simon attend our big day. The morning of our wedding wasn’t a hec- tic one for me if I am honest, not as full on as Pauline was having at her hotel. Simon was staying with me and we had the nicest relaxed of mornings, we had breakfast and chatted about old times, I couldn’t have wished for more. Stephen my best man met us at Lupton House at half 12. I didn’t have the usual nerves grooms have washing over me when I arrived at Lupton, I was just looking forward to marrying my soul mate. Standing at the front of this amazing house, our families and Pauline’s journey to Lupton House and wed- ding service in her own words. The morning had gone so fast but it was nearly time to leave for Lupton, Jamie arrived at 1.20 pm to take my- self, son Robert his girlfriend Michelle and flower girl Summer and page boy Ben. The wedding car was beautifully decorated and looked stunning. I have to admit I was starting to get butter- flies in my stomach at this point, dur- ing the morning there was no nerv- ousness. Once at Lupton we drove slowly down the long drive up to the main house, when we got there I could see alot of our respective families and guests mingling outside and chatting with Alan. My nerves seemed to dis- appear when I saw Alan running into the house because our car had been spotted, it was a funny moment that put me at my ease. I could tell Robert was nervous as he hadn’t been asked to do such an important job before, that of giving me away. We got out of Jamie’s car and entered the house, we were greeted by Lee our photographer and our Registrar Sue. Lee was tak- ing photographs on our arrival inside guests began to arrive. After greeting those that I could, I was ushered inside as my bride was coming up the drive. Finally our wedding service was about to begin………. wedding day had arrived, Monday 20th February 2017. Everything felt so right in my own mind, I was so happy and I was looking forward to marry- ing this wonderful lady, a lady that had shown me that I could love and trust again. My eldest nephew Stephen Bowers had agreed to be my best man on the day. I had been best man at his wedding back in 2015, and he was so proud to return the favour. As well as having all my family at the wedding, it was bittersweet in a lot of ways because both my mother and father aren’t alive anymore and they couldn’t be there.
