As we know, the word convocation is so familiar with student. The meaning of convocation is “a group of people gathered for a special purpose”. We can see that at all University, school or college convocation will be held for graduates of that school. It has become a tradition to hold such an event since the place has been established. Generally, before held the graduation ceremony, normally the organizer will held a festival of convocation. This is to increase publicity of convocation to the nearby community to draw them to come and enliven the event.
University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) also takes part in this tradition as on the 1st until 7th October, University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia have held a Festival of Convocation in conjunction with the University’s 13th convocation. The opening ceremony of convocation festival was on 2nd October 2013 at 9.00 pm by Vice Chancellor of UTHM, Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohd Noh Bin Dalimin and ended with fireworks. During this week of celebration, varies activities were held to commemorate the event.
If that is not enough, the University organizers have also organize extremes games such as motor cross and BMX. This program is held to entertain the visitors that came to this festival. For family that brings their small children, a bounce house is there to give the kids a fun time at the festival. In addition, stalls that sells varies food items, clothes, gifts and flowers can also be found at the festival. Visitors can shop while enjoying varies activities at the festival. At night, activities such football match between Kelantan and Johor was premiered on the big screen with and addition of a mini concert featuring varies Malaysian artists.
