Have you travelled to Africa? What did you learn and what made you break down into tears?
I have travelled to Kenya and Uganda several times. In the 1990’s all we heard about Africa here in the west was drought and famine stories but when I landed there I found something somehow different to what I had heard several times. The inhabitants of Kenya were friendly had a rich culture and the shaped perception about Africa was not true. Such a wonderful place to be. The poverty as a result of corruption in the leadership was very heart breaking too.
Developing world especially Africa is a land full of traditions and cultures that are passed down from generations to generations, has culture and taboo in Africa come into conflict with lunapads at any time during your work in Africa?
We have not come across any conflict in our work in Africa. The success in our work has been achieved through partnerships we have on the ground. We work closely with community leaders and community social workers to pass our message. We are also partnering with organizations like Mariestopes to reach out to the community
What do you find irritating about perceptions on lunapads especially from the competing disposable brands?
The most disappointing thing about our competitors is the lack of transparency in these products. Isn’t it relieving to know the contents of the products one is using
