Research and Planning

Before shooting a music video, you need to spend time researching existing videos, their codes and conventions and maybe get some inspiration for your own video. Emily and I spent a lot of time deciding what artist and song we would choose to do our own video to. Our first idea was The 1975 but then both of our minds sparked at the same time and we both said "Tame Impala". Last year, we created a storyboard online; however, this time we stuck to paper to create it. When it had been completed, we filmed the storyboard with the music playing in the background. This would give our audience an idea of timings and possible ideas (if they could see the drawings). This year, we also decided to start vlogging. Vlogs are a very popular way of conveying ideas to people; therefore, Emily and I decided to join in. In our videos, we speak about updates in relation to where we are with the film making, any ideas we have or general thoughts about the whole idea of making a music video. Vlogs allowed us to communicate to our audience without them having to read anything which may have been more suitable for some.
