‘ The grand architecture of Vienna is a striking backdrop to Christmas markets and festivities’
Vienna
Vienna is a city designed for festivities and occasions and whilst its outstanding attractions, museums and galleries are worthy of a visit at any time of the year, before Christmas the atmosphere is very special. You can expect traditional decorations, illuminated buildings, hot chestnuts sold from street stalls, mulled wine, ice skating in the Rathauspark and Christmas markets. The Vienna State Opera has a full programme at the Opera House in December including Rigoletto and Tosca, and the Vienna Mozart Orchestra offers numerous concerts throughout the month as well. The Lipizzaner horses at the Spanish Riding School are also performing in December. We include flights but if you want to travel by train all the way or one way, this can be arranged too( there is a sleeper train from Brussels to Vienna or you can break the journey in Switzerland or Germany).
NOTES The Vienna Christmas markets take place around the city from 10 November until 26 December. We include a 3-day Vienna Pass which gives you free entry to a choice of 90 of Vienna’ s most popular attractions and museums and unlimited use of the HOP ON HOP OFF Vienna sightseeing tours buses for the duration of your pass. We tend to offer the 4-star Hotel Kaiserhof or the 5-star Hotel Bristol but others can be arranged on request.
