Cookery and wine in Tuscany
The Castel Monastero, a few miles from Siena in the Chianti Classico region, is the venue for this combined cookery and wine appreciation holiday. We suggest five nights but the duration can be amended and we include a hire-car for your convenience which provides an opportunity for you to visit the area, perhaps venturing to Siena and San Gimignano, or to Arezzo. Castel Monastero in Tuscany occupies what was a fortified hamlet dating from the Middle Ages nestling amid the vines, cornfields, chestnut forests and rows of cypress trees of the Ombrone valley. The restoration of the village has transformed the main square into the heart of the resort where you can dine and enjoy a drink and the buildings now house the 74 rooms and suites. Castel Monastero prides itself on being a centre for sampling and developing Tuscan gourmet culture.
NOTES We include a cookery lesson that takes place at 11.00 hrs for 1.5 hrs and is followed by included lunch, and a wine tasting that takes place at 17.00 hrs for 1.5 hrs. Extra nights can be added on request.
