Message From Division Director DTM Jennifer Ghosh
" My Dear Toastmasters,“ The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step ", so aptly stated by the mystic philosopher of China, Tao Tzu. My journey of 3650 days too, began with a single step, a step in the right direction. Yes, you guessed it right, I joined the 332,000 membership strength as it stands today to become an integral part of the Toastmasters fraternity. Frankly, the name Toastmasters, intrigued me, which forced me to attend my very first session. What transpired thereafter, is history. My Toastmasters journey took me across countries and continents and I was blessed to have held roles such as, President, VP – Public Relations( 2 terms), India and Dubai, VP Education, Mexico, Area Governor, India, and presently holding Division Director elect position for 201617, Area H, of District 41. I am excited motivated and committed to the cause and mission of Toastmasters International, of empowering individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders. Their tag line,“ Where Leaders are made,” is so apt, you can really reach high to touch new skies if you so desire. There are no limits to this stimulating journey, the only requirement being, selfmotivation and a desire to learn. I have come a long way from being an uncomfortable nervous speaker to achieving the most prestigious award from Toastmasters International,“ The Distinguished Toastmasters Award.” This, by no ways was an easy task. The journey held road blocks and challenges during various stages of my journey. Fortunately, with the eager willingness, help and support from fellow members of the fraternity, I DID IT. This is one of the best parts about being a Toastmaster, we support and help each other share and grow. This unique method of learn, by doing, is an inspiring key to success. You may be wondering why I am sharing this with you! Well, the reason being, I want my fellow Toastmasters to believe that they too can reach where I stand today. I want each one of you, especially Gen Y, to understand how important and beneficial this journey is and how it can help build and create a new you.“ We can and we Will”, with this inspiring mantra you can reach the pinnacles of success, selfconfidence and selfactualization.
I have had a humbling learning experience through this journey, you too can benefit from it. I never grow tired of saying this,“ Toastmasters is more than a passion for me, it is a way of life.” In conclusion I would like to leave you with a very powerful statement,“ Don’ t practice until you get it right. Practice until you can’ t get it wrong.” Anonymous! And the journey continues ……. Hail Toastmasters!"
