Visibility of eTwinning Projects Group July 2013 Newsletter -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I found the answer from my students during the eTwinning activities when I noticed their involvement and joy, curiosity and determination to learn and to exchange what they learn, to communicate in English, to use the new technologies. eTwinning for Me? A Challenge – Lifelong Learning, Even After Retirement by Iuliana Ciubuc Perhaps you will not believe it, but I started training in the latest technologies of learning after I had retired. Then how can young teachers and those who still have much time until they retire just sit with their arms crossed? I do not understand. Fear, laziness, lack of teacher’s skills, lack of ICT competences are small apologies. There is no such thing as ”I cannot” if you want to. If you want to improve yourslef, if you want not to be considered blase, as long as children know about ICT at the earliest of ages and are interested in knowledge, we must positively channel their energy by teaching them how to learn, hot to make discoveries, how to be innovative. I found the answer from our eTwinning partners and friends, from their valuable feedback and wonderful appreciations. All these qualities can be developed in children by involving them in international eTwinning projects, in my opinion and with the experience of a lifetime now. Let me tell you how eTwinning has become a challenge for me. Venturing into a maze entirely unknown, when one does not have the slightest interest (no label, no chair, no financial incentive, no portfolio...) means possesing and exhibiting a passion for one’s profession, a love for children and a desire to be helpful to children and to younger colleagues – this was the feeling that animated me. With great emotion, immediately after retirement, I enrolled in the 5 free courses offered on the Romanian teachers’ portal iTeach. I graduated after 2 years and was stimulated not to stop there because I had to apply what I had gained during these courses. I saw the answer in the curious eyes of children, through the wide open door of our classroom. So I enrolled my school in many eTwinning projects, wioth coordinators from Romania and aborad. My students welcomed my proposal with enthusiasm, and so did my colleagues, who supported me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I was also supported by my colleagues with experience in eTwinning, Ecaterina Grecu (Voluntary Expo – Photo exhibition on volunteering 77
