Slowly, the classroom door opens. Italian and Romanian students respond in choir to the teacher’s greeting. "Good morning!" is the children’s favorite song, and they sing together for the beginning of a beautiful day. During the song the pupils try to synchronize their movements and they are close to success. They smile at each other. ”Do you remember Muzzy? Look at his photo! What colour is he?”, asks the teacher Rossana from Italy. ”Green, like grass!” answers a Romanian girl who has two red flowers in her cheeks... ”How is the king of Gondoland?”, I ask the children. ”He is strong like me!”, we hear a loud voice from an Italian kid who is showing his muscles... ”What about our castle from Italy?... What about our church from Romania?... What about...?” The little hands rise to each question. Something good happens here! So many applauses... Through the opened classroom door we hear yet an echo of the For us, it was an amazing experience to teach and learn, ”here and now”, in collaboration with teachers and students from thousands of miles away, to travel, to meet and explore new cultures and traditions – all these, safely and without expensive ”travel tickets”; we only needed: selfconfidence, a suitable eTwinning project, real teamwork and collaboration, a bit of enthusiasm, creativity and, of course, time. Two years ago I wondered if my students with special educational needs would be able to participate in eTwinning projects with students from other countries. 76
