Visibility of eTwinning Projects Group July 2013 Newsletter -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------eTwinning Challenges by Fanny Vasileva eTwinning – a fantasy or a reality? After collaboration in some eTwinning projects, we created Comenius Projects together and the reality meet us, so that we realized that we are not ONLY digital partners, but real ones too. There was a time when active European teachers had a need to communicate, cooperate and collaborate with their colleagues not only from their countries, but from all European countries and why not all over the world. Contemporary challenges set up new relations in new circumstances between the people. So they did with the teachers’ nets. eTwinning has become one of the most innovative way of “ digital” meeting for teachers from almost all European countries. This platform gives them opportunities to make friendships, share ideas, create different groups, create projects and collaborate actively. Some years ago I created an eTwinning project called “An International Student’s Survey” being curious what happens with the students from some European countries. Are the problems the same in the schools? How is students’ behaviour in different European schools? What are the reasons? Who is responsible? Where do mistakes come from? I was very happy when my project was joined by many many teachers from different countries like: Turkey, Poland, Italy, Greece, England, France, Finland, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic. We all found some differences and similarities in students’ behavior, and the reasons for this. Many people think that eTwinning is just “wasting their spare time”. Is it true? No, I do not think so. I met him on eTwinning and he became my real partner in a Comenius project This is our second year of working together on a common Comenius Project, due to our previous eTwinning meetings and collaboration. We created a very good partnership and friendships between our schools and students. Yes, reality met us, and I realized the importance of the eTwinning platform. During my continuing work and cooperation on eTwinning platform lately I found again so many new colleagues and friends from other countries like Malta, Sweden, Finland, 57
