Are you a sneaker head? When then you’ ll probably know about these Kanye hyped shoes. Many people know that he left Nike to join Adidas. But nobody really knows the insight to why he left. We will tell you all the insights about the sneaker head culture
It’ s no private affair that Kanye West has no love for Nike. He left Nike to join Nike’ s biggest competitor, Adidas. Everyone in the sneakerhead community knows that the“ Kanye West effect” is real. Many Adidas sneakers blew up just because Kanye was wearing them during his concert. Retail prices of 160 $ may sometimes jump to 1300 $ because Kanye has so much influence in the culture. The so called“ Kanye effect” can increase shoes resale price to over 10 times the retail price. Retail price is the original price selling from an authentic store. His Yeezy Air Red October was sold in ebay for 5,500 $ but the original price is lower than 250 $. This is called the“ Kanye effect”. He also didn’ t like the fact that everyone who wanted yeezy couldn’ t get yeezy. Kanye didn’ t like that his shoes are being resell for thousands of dollar and that Nike are not producing enough for the market’ s need.
In an interview in 2013, Kayne stated that he was upset about the income that he is getting for the Yeezy Air’ s revenues. He does not get any royalties from his own shoe. Nike says that it is because Kanye is not an actual athlete unlike MJ. As in the interview Kanye also stated that his is also an athlete“ I performs for other”. MJ gets 5 % royalties from his Jordans. This means that every time someone buy Jordans from an authentic shop, MJ will get 5 % from that revenue. This did not happened to the Nike shoe that collab with Kanye,“ The Yeezy Air”. No percentage was given to Kanye for people buying his OWN shoes.” Nike told me,’ We can’ t give you royalties because you’ re not a professional athlete.’ I told them, I go to the Garden and play one on one. I’ m a performance athlete. Adidas saw this opportunity and offered Kanye for his collab and gave him royalties. This shoe is also known as the Yeezy boosts.
