Limelight reading
As we begin 2026, the Foundation is energized and focused on three core priorities: communications, community engagement and fundraising.
Clear, consistent and compelling communications will remain central to our work. We are committed to telling our story— why the Museum matters, how progress is unfolding and where support is needed— through regular updates, digital platforms and community outreach. We will continue to use vehicles like our newsletters, as well as ESTEBANA, our newly launched publication. Transparency and connection will guide how we share our journey with you.
Community engagement will continue to be at the heart of everything we do. The Museum of Black History belongs to the community, and its success depends on authentic relationships and inclusive participation. In 2026, we will deepen our engagement with educators, cultural leaders, youth, faith communities and civic partners to ensure that the Museum reflects and serves the richness of Black experiences.
Finally, fundraising will be a key focus as we build on the success of our inaugural event. Expanding our donor base, cultivating partnerships and creating new opportunities for investment will be essential to sustaining momentum. Every contribution— whether time, talent or resources— moves us closer to opening doors that will educate, inspire and empower.
We begin this year with gratitude for how far we have come and optimism for what lies ahead. Thank you for believing in this vision and for standing with the Foundation of the Museum of Black History. Together, we are building something enduring— an institution that honors legacy, tells truth and shapes the future.
Warm regards,

Alesia
