The Bee Gees
Although Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb were born
in the UK, the Bee Gees actually achieved their first
chart success In Australia with their 12th single,
Spicks and Specks. They returned to the UK in 1967
and went on to enjoy phenomenal global successes,
selling more than 220 million records worldwide.
They’re respected in the industry for writing all
of their own song materials as well as writing and
producing several major hits for other artists. The
brothers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame in 1997, where their accolade reads, “Only
Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth
Brooks and Paul McCartney have outsold the Bee

The Pointer Sisters
Girl power before the Spice Girls came in the form
of the Pointer Sisters. Hailing from California,
the group was a predominantly R&B girl band,
although it also successfully dabbled in pop, disco,
jazz, bebop, blues, soul, funk, dance, country
and rock music over its three-decade reign. June
and Bonnie Pointer began performing in clubs in
1969 as Pointers, a Pair, but changed their name
when their sisters, Anita and Ruth, joined them.
The sisters achieved 13 US Top 20 hits, have won
three Grammy Awards and received a star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1994. Today, the group
still remains active and is enjoying moderate, yet

This Nashville-based rock band formed in 2000
and consists of brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared
Followill as well as cousin Matthew Followill, who
completes the band and plays the lead guitar. The
brothers have achieved substantial successes in the
United Kingdom, with all three of their albums at
the time peaking in the top five of the UK Albums
Chart, nine Top 40 singles and two BRIT Awards.
After the release of Only by the Night in September
2008, the band achieved chart success in the United
States – the album was the band’s first Platinumselling album in America and was also the bestselling album of 2008 in Australia, being certified
platinum nine times.
