The Jackson 5

The Osmonds

Arguably the most famous family in pop history,
The Jackson 5 was formed with Jackie, Tito,
Jermaine and Marlon in 1964 in Indiana. The boys
were originally known as The Jackson Brothers, but
changed their name to The Jackson 5 after their
youngest brother, Michael, joined. They entered
the professional music scene in 1967 after a stint of
successful local talent shows and the band scored
a number of musical firsts, including being the first
black American musical group to attain a cross
cultural following and the first act whose first four
singles reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in
1970. The brothers achieved 17 Top 40 positions
and were inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame in 1997. See how they looked when they first

If Beetlemania defined the 60s, then Osmondmania
most definitely defined the 70s. As devout members
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
brothers Alan, Wayne, Merril and Jay formed the
band using the family surname in 1958. With the
addition of their younger siblings, Donny and Jimmy,
the impressionable teens and their untainted
innocence and energetic pop-rock sound hit the big
time. They had a growing female fan base the world
over and broke into the UK market in 1973, where
they charted 13 top singles. With the assistance of
their sister, Marie, who had a successful solo career,
the family went on to produce a hit television
show and were honoured for their achievements
in the entertainment industry with a star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003. Relive the Donny
