Course reception:
This was effective, although I didn’t see
anything different to the usual bag drop-off,
club clean, etc. I would have liked to see some
tee pegs on the cart and, on my visit, there
was no water in the cooler box or sand bag,
but this might have been the result of a last
minute change of cart on my part.
WHAT’S PUTTING
42
in terms of soft goods and those last minute
items that might be required by a visitor or
The Club’s members.
A car wash/valet might be a nice addition to
the menu of services, with a wash and go
option as part of the golf package.
Price:
Due to popular demand, the course is
currently open to cater for a limited number
of non-member rounds. A round will cost
your 4-ball just under R4000.00 at R800.00
per player and R350.00 per golf cart.
Catering:
The Saxon Hotel, one of Gauteng’s most
prestigioushotels,isinchargeoftheF&BatThe
Club. There are still some missing elements,
like condiment bottles and operational
rough edges – the background music was
too loud on my first visit and a waiter arrived
with gin and tonic into which the tonic had
already been poured; these things need to
be attended to. However, given the Saxon’s
experience and expertise at a high end
operational level, the team will undoubtedly
bed in the very polite staff effectively and deal
with these small operational niggles.
When I was at The Club, the food menu was
relatively limited, but good quality and very
fairly priced.
Pro shop:
The shop area is large, naturally very modern
and well fitted and able to cater for all needs,
Changing facilities:
These are super – all the requirements and
refinements and then some are in place, at
least, on the men’s side of things!
