and replicates the exact same layout as
both the exhibition and global television
programme from the UK. Boasting an
array of different sections, each complete
with more than 300 top brands and
leading-edge designers offering expert
tips and innovative features, Grand
Designs Live is set to welcome more than
26, 000 house proud South Africans at
The Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg
over a three-day weekend.
“We are particularly excited to be
launching the Off the Grid section this
year, which will help educate consumers
in becoming self-sufficient and using
alternative ways to obtain energy and not
simply rely on public utilities,” says Sandra.
“The current energy crisis is a worrying
factor for South African consumers and
we really want to give them all the options
they need to make informed decisions.”
Multi-sensory, multi-purpose and multifaceted in style and order – visitors are
greeted with an enthralling selection of
illustrations by local artists, all drawn with
chalk, as they enter into the Grand Designs
Live Tunnel, a momentous entrance
sponsored by Whirlpool. From here, The
Grand Arches act as a gateway into the
show’s multiple and diverse areas. In the
Grand Interiors section, for example, an
incredible two-roomed tree house, two
and a half metres high and sponsored
by Belgotex and Duraturf, will tower high
above everything else. Especially built for
the occasion using recycled wood and
decorated by top interior decorators, it is
a tribute to all things natural.
An incredible Garden Theatre Pavilion
with an intricately designed open garden
structure accented with pergolas, mighty
trees, natural lawns and the sounds of
singing birds will fill up the garden area
and is the ideal place to lie back and relax,
whilst listening to Tanya Visser and an
array of experts.
In the Grand Build and DIY area,
Black+Decker will be constructing a
magnificent, soaring DIY Theatre created
from two containers stacked on top of
each other. Visitors will be able to watch
live demonstrations while sitting on upcycled seats made from old tyres, whilst,
in the ever-popular Chef’s Theatre, one
can watch much-loved celebrity foodies
sample, demonstrate and share industry
secrets.
From loud and proud homeowners
and seasoned and sophisticated interior
designers to closet experimenters, Grand
Designs Live Home & Garden Show
2015 caters to everyone who has even
the slightest intention of turning their
house into a lovely home. A small change
can make a grand difference and the
only thing holding you back is your own
imagination.
