sedate vantage point looked on. In between
times there was an opportunity to stop and
relax in the small hot spring, with a cup of tea
and energy bar to fortify us for the second
half of our journey. At times there were
combinations to enjoy; a slide into a jump
or an abseil that ended by letting go of the
rope and splashing back into the water. Our
guides manufactured an impromptu zipline at
one waterfall and we abseiled the first part of
the drop before sliding across the water below
us. We’re no strangers to ziplines, but not when
we’re facing backwards to start with.
Like all good things, our trip that left everyone
in the group with huge smiles and a real buzz
had to come to an end. We reluctantly parted
from the river that had given us so much
pleasure and walked to a rendezvous with the
truck that returned us whence we came for
a shower and a plate of Nasi Campur as we
excitedly discussed our favourite memories
and moments of the day.
If our memories needed something of a jog
we didn’t have to wait too long. When not
helping us down the river our guides were very
busy with a GoPro camera and had numerous
images and videos of the day’s adventure and
these were all supplied as part of our package,
ensuring that while the river water wouldn’t
always be awakening the senses we could
always put the computer on and pour a gallon
of water over our heads if we ever wanted to
relive the moment.
Or we could just go back and do it again…
