The slides are the most basic of tricks here and there’s nothing particularly technical about sitting down and propelling yourself down a slippy, slidey incline. Which isn’t to say it isn’t great fun – it is. Indeed to be honest you often find yourself half sliding through sections of the river anyway to negotiate the rocky landscape. While our nimble-footed guides did their best impressions of mountain goats, hopping easily around, us amateurs were more likely to rely on having four limbs in touch with the ground to ensure safe passage. Jumping into a water pool involves letting go of the earth with all four of those limbs and our introduction was relatively tame – jumps a few feet high that would be achievable on land but more fun with water to jump into.
