Commodores Report.
We’ ve all heard the expression“ time flys”. Well its certainly has for me. The last year as Commodore has flown by. Christmas party, Valentine’ s event, cream tea, Commodores Cruise, Rally then bonfire night and the years gone.
This year’ s Commodores cruise is again to the steps at Trent Bridge. It will be on Spring Bank Holiday 27,28 and 29 th May. BBQ on Saturday night on the grass, bring your own beer( weather dependent). Sunday meal in the TBI. On Monday, back to club but for those who have more time, down the Trent to Newark then possibly on to Lincoln and back for the following weekend. If you haven’ t done the Trent before, it’ s an ideal opportunity to see a new cruising ground but also be in company. 16 boats turned up last year( not all from our club as we invited other clubs to attend). Narrow boaters are very welcome.
The new Club house is moving forward. We have found the building that fits the bill and with help from Council Members and non- Council Members, planning is being sort. I will bring more information to the AGM( Friday 31st. March at Trent Lock Golf Club. 7.30pm.) for a more updated report. Photo of proposed building is on the new notice board by main gate.
Our moles have been sorted out by our mole catcher and his apprentice Roger. I understand 4 moles had caused all the damage.
Slipping shed pulleys have been replaced as the current ones where breaking up. They should last for a few years as they are one of the most used items on the club.
I’ m sure all members have noticed the main gate swings open better. The reason being, top hinge has been replaced.
