The Headmaster of Kesteven Grantham Girls’ School, Mr Burkes, came along to ‘fly the flag’ for the Grantham Girls. Mr Burkes stated that “Equestrianism is not only a hobby but a fantastic commitment and a lifestyle for the girls.” 11 other schools attending all had riders in qualification places, so the ‘the spoils of success’ were well spread and made for a closely contested series of competitions on the day. There was an overwhelming sense of fun and respect for all the riders involved, as well as a great atmosphere with the parents and spectators, not forgetting all the 70+ volunteers. David Dury FaBHSES Chairman said “An event like this takes a lot of effort to organise and many play a part to make the day work; I applaud the generosity of the supporters like TopSpec feeds, Countrywide Farmers, who sponsored a class and prizes; R&R Country and Tagg Equestrian who also donated prizes; an extra reward for the 1st place riders’ efforts and a measure of local interest and support.
