Lately these institutions have upped their security numbers to try to start stopping these assaults from happening even do some still don’t. RAINN give us some of this numbers which are: 86% of sworn campus law enforcement officials have legal authority to make an arrest outside of the campus grounds. 86% of sworn campus law enforcement agencies have a staff member responsible for rape prevention programming. 72% of campus law enforcement agencies have a staff member responsible for survivor response and assistance. Among 4-year academic institutions with 2,500 students or more, 75% employ armed officers, a 10% increase in the last decade. This means that some colleges are now conscient of the problem they have and are trying to find ways to solve it.
Students from all of the U.S. have been doing huge movements to try to stop this events to continue happening In my opinion this movements are good even though none of this situations I have talked about should never happen. Sadly they do and the people that experience and get through them are very strong since the situation has not favorable for them. Unfortunately humans never learn and we have been damaging each other since the beginning of our times, we killed each other for a piece of land, we kill ourselves because we have different political opinions, and since a long time ago we kill and damage ourselves with really no apparent reason at all to do it because you can ask a rapist why did he/she do that and I’m sure their answer would be the dumbest thing ever. “Don’t be the reason someone feels insecure. Be the reason someone feels seen, heard, and supported by the whole universe” Cleo Wade. Institutions are starting to feel accountable for their actions since the students that have been affected and the ones supporting them have risen up and spoke up to the problem. People should continue doing this marches and movements and keep talking to the institutions so they realize they have a real problem.
