Protected Characteristics
The Public Sector Equality Duty covers groups or individuals with the following characteristics.
These are known as ‘protected characteristics’ and are recognised within the Equality Act 2010:
> Age
> Disability
> Gender reassignment
> Pregnancy and maternity
> Race
> Religion or belief
> Sex
> Sexual orientation
> Marriage and civil partnership
Therefore, the aim of this report is to review the progress made in Ayrshire College in relation to
mainstreaming equality and inclusion within all College functions and meeting its Equality Outcomes.
