In order to get what is in the water to the shore we cast a line. The process of casting demonstrates our prayer life. When a fishermen-or woman- goes fishing they take a fishing-pole that is prepared with a line, hook and bait and they throw it out away from them into a body of water. The hopes of the person fishing is that they are exchanging what they have (the bait) in exchange for what they intend to catch (the fish).

Some people are better at casting than others. Over the years my father has taught me: practice makes perfect in casting. What you may wonder is how that relates to prayer.

1 Peter 5:7 states that we are to “cast our cares over to the Lord, for He cares for us”. On your first spiritual fishing trip maybe your cast is short or the line gets tangled. You may be unfamiliar with the water or how to bait the hook.

My advice is CAST AGAIN. The wind and the current will pull your line back- CAST AGAIN. When we cast our concerns over to God, the current of life has a way of bringing these things back to us. Upon its return, if the line does not carry our catch (the desired outcome) then what remains is our bait (our original issue). If your line comes back with bait: CAST AGAIN. Make a conscience and purposeful decision to keep casting until something changes –no matter what.

If you are feeling like your super-saint skills are failing because issues keep disturbing your thought process or fear is rising up after you have prayed, try verbally stating “Lord, although I have prayed about (enter your concern) it keeps coming back to me so I cast it back to because you are faithful to handle it.

If there is an action I should take, Holy Spirit, direct me: otherwise I trust that you’ve got it and I won’t interfere. I TRUST YOU LORD”. If you must, recite this as many times as needed. Don’t allow the enemy to trap you into thinking that God didn’t hear or doesn’t care. Our Father is concerned about everything that concerneth us (Psalms 138:8).

Keep casting your concerns. Our Daddy is faithful to take care of us. Only in this continual process will your all truly be on the altar- the Spiritual Ocean where miracles manifest. Keep casting your concerns on the altar.
