The key players within the consumables space can be divided into local and international players. Most local players within this segment primarily focus on the manufacturing of medical gloves. These includes Top Glove, Hartalega, Kossan Rubber Industries and FFT Malaysia. International multinational companies include Ansell Medical, B Braun, 3M, Bard, Cardinal Health and Johnson & Johnson.
Due to the large number of surgical / medical gloves manufacturers in Malaysia and the different requirements for human capital, the medical consumables sub-sector was split into two segments for the purpose of this environmental scan: a) Medical / Surgical gloves b) Other consumables products, excluding medical / surgical gloves
2.1.2 Diagnostic Imaging
Diagnostic Imaging refers to the use of high energy modalities( e. g. X-rays including dental X-rays, ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging) for medical diagnosis by trained medical personals.
The diagnostic imaging market in Malaysia crossed the one-billion-ringgit mark in 2015. Its CAGR between 2010 to 2015 was 7.8 % and is forecasted to record a CAGR of 8.2 % for the period between 2015 to 2020. The diagnostic imaging sub-sector includes electro diagnostic apparatus, radiation apparatus and other relevant imaging parts and accessories.
