Perhaps one of the most ideal places to catch the tour and experience
OTHER RESORTS
the California coast is Pismo Beach, close to a halfway point for the
racers. As a first-time host city, it's also the only pier ever to be used
as a starting line. That unique start, gorgeous sunsets, coastal location
and a convenient launching point for other attractions, makes the
Pismo Coast Village RV Resort a great luxury spot.
Add in wide open space on both the freeways and its nearby beaches, and
you may never want to roll up your welcome mat. After all, the resort
recently received five stars in the Woodalls RV and Campground Guide
for facilities and recreation.
"This is a popular place to be and we have so many access points to the
race," Jamison said. "You can easily catch the start in the morning and
then head out to hit the wineries or a good restaurant or go north to see

The tour swings through San Jose, in Northern California on
the third day, following a time trial in Folsom. The Coyote
Valley Resort has over 127 deluxe sites with a large salt water
pool and spa with terraces. There is easy access to the San
Francisco Bay Area, Monterey and Carmel. Cycling enthusiasts
also can enjoy miles of peaceful, tree-lined trails. "People really
enjoy it down here," said Cindy Lancaster, an office employee.

In the spirit of the Tour of California, you might take your wheels to the
Bob Jones Bike Trail and travel along a scenic route that includes a river,
trees, bridges and even a golf course. For more serious riders, there are
plenty of challenging road options without the threat of heavy traffic but
with unending coastal views.
Hearst Castle is an hour away and a Monarch Grove where tens of
thousands of butterflies winter from November through February is
easily reached by foot.
But if you don't want to leave the resort, that's understandable too.
There's a pool, playground, mini golf, a store and plenty of court games.

Just 40 minutes from Pismo Beach, visitors here can enjoy
stamped concrete sites, over 270 wineries in the surrounding
area and a welcoming cash bar serving local favorites. "I don't
think there is any other RV park that has a bar like we do, "
said Bonnie Noble, the manager. The resort features tastings,
theme dinners and invites food trucks to swing on by to capture
that local flavor. "People are surprised by how beautiful it is
here — even our bathrooms," Noble said.
The 400-site resort has 50-amp hookups and more modern utilities.
"We are geared to handle the more demanding needs of the newer RV
units," Jamison said. "We also have a friendly staff and security that
make sure it's a quiet place everyone can enjoy."
