CYCLING FUN ride for the veterans The Tour of California has partnered with Ride 2 Recovery Foundation and will offer a recreational ride for cyclists May 10 — the day before the Tour of California — in Sacramento. It starts on the north side of the capital and follows the circuit of the tour as well as scenic neighborhoods throughout Sacramento. Ride 2 Recovery raises money and awareness for the country's wounded veterans. click the icon to register for the ride. want to be a volunteer? As the nation's largest and most prestigious professional cycling race, the Amgen Tour of California provides the opportunity for cycling fans and community members throughout the 750-mile-course to experience the race from the inside. The organizers are looking for 4,000 volunteers to assist race staff and law enforcement. They also will help monitor pedestrian traffic, barricades and road closures, as well as keeping spectators informed and acting as liaisons with the cyclists and their teams. In the 12 host cities, volunteers for media support, security and volunteer check-in are also being recruited.
