I-30 / SH 360 Interchange and SH 360 Widening Projects
Work continues on the $233
million Interstate 30/SH 360
Interchange Project, designed
to create a modern and efficient
interchange by early 2021. A
full closure of I-30 in November,
necessary for removal of the
southbound SH 360 frontage
road bridge, went smoothly and
the Interstate reopened to traffic
ahead of schedule.
Work is also continuing on the
$53 million SH 360 widening
project, which began in June
2018. The 5.4 mile project, which
will add additional lanes from
Abram Street to Kingswood
Boulevard/Green Oaks Boulevard
in Arlington, is on target for substantial completion in 2020. During construction, three lanes will remain open in
each direction, and lane closures will be scheduled during off-peak hours.
Abram Street Rebuild Construction Milestones Achieved
In early January 2019, the City of Arlington was proud
to announce that the transformative Abram Street
Rebuild through Downtown had reached several major
construction milestones.
The voter-approved project to rebuild Abram Street
between Cooper and Collins streets kicked off in March
2018 and is on target to be complete in early 2020. In
addition to improving utilities infrastructure, streetlights,
drainage and creating a smoother, long-lasting roadway,
the project will add pedestrian amenities such as new
benches, LED lighting, trees, and other streetscape
improvements to foster a more inviting, walkable
environment for residents, students, and visitors.
“This rebuild will create a safer, more attractive space for on-street festivals and other outdoor events that draw
visitors to Downtown, which is a state-designated Cultural District,” Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams said.
To complete the Abram Street Rebuild as efficiently as possible, the project has been divided into seven major
phases, three of which were completed on schedule by the of 2018. The remaining four phases are anticipated to
be complete by early 2020.
